My Story
Conviction and passion are key factors that drive my performance, having strong experience in instructional design and an advanced MAS in education. Furthermore, I have worked in a range of channels such as e-Learning, multilingual webinars, and virtual and in-person event instructional materials. I have a strong track record in engaging educational training, articulating storyline, and excellent communication skills being aware of cultural diversity and sensitivity.
I started working in corporate training in 1993. Then in 1995, I became a sworn translator and worked in numerous translation projects in energy, oil & gas, telecom, accounting, among others.
In 1999, I created McDonough Interpretación Simultánea, a company I cofounded, where I singlehandedly created its audiovisual rental division. My primary responsibility ranged from scheduling conferences with equipment rentals to booking and training interpreters.
Since 2002 I have worked coordinating and managing international congresses and events, scheduling simultaneous interpreting assignments and audio-visual rental in thousands of events.
I became an AIIC member in 2007 while I was writing my first book currently used by professional interpreters in Europe, the Americas, and Asia targeted to Spanish C language acquisition.
In 2014, I earned my Advanced Masters Training Degree at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting (FTI), the interpreting school of the University of Geneva, Switzerland. My thesis at FTI focuses on accelerating the learning pace through e-books and LMS.
Between 2016 and 2019, I wrote three interactive e-books on Spanish C, which are widely used by UN and EU certified interpreters seeking to add Spanish in their language classification.
In 2016, I created another company called Seminars, which rents out fully-equipped conference rooms and coworking spaces with audiovisual services.
In March 2016, I launched my first online simultaneous training courses with international students and instructors using www.interpretacion.com.ar, an LMS pioneering e-learning in Argentina, replicating my experience gained in Geneva.
In 2017, I became visiting professor at the University of Mexico, where I taught simultaneous interpretation on the virtual Masters Interpreting Program.
In 2018, I became a visiting Professor at Shanghai International in China where I have been teaching simultaneous interpretation from Chinese into Spanish for the government of China.
In 2020, the pandemic hit the hospitality industry and all my work has mostly been remote ever since, part time interpreting and e-learning instruction.
